IAONZ have revised the NZS4246:2016 training course.

To receive the IAONZ qualification, members must complete a four stage training process. Stages one and two consist of internal training. Stage three and four involve attending training classes.

All courses are 8.30am - approx 3.30pm.
Cost is $149 ex GST for IAONZ members. Non-member price $249 ex GST.

Association Training Program

Our association offers industry specific training in site safety and on the key requirements of NZS 4246, (NZ Standard NZS 4246: 2006 - Energy Efficiency - Installing Insulation in Residential Buildings). Installer and Auditor training covers the below stages, for futher clarification please view the IAONZ pathway flowchart here.

STAGE 1:

IAONZ Safety Induction Plan

An induction between employee and employer designed to cover key safety concepts and other information which employees require to entering a site. The employer is required to take the necessary time to go through each page of this 57 page document with their employee. In signing the document, the employer is confirming to IAONZ that the employee has the required knowledge and understanding necessary for him/her to remain safe when on site.

STAGE 3:

Theory of NZS4246

A classroom based industry standards training session delivered by an IAONZ accredited trainer.

Completed documentation for stages 1 and 2 must be submitted to IAONZ, P.O.Box. 31717, Milford, North Shore City 0741, Auckland prior to making a booking for stage 3. All stage 3 candidates will be required to undertake a test on arrival testing their knowledge of stages 1 and 2. Those who do not pass will be asked to leave.

STAGE 2:

Application of the principals of NZS4246

An apprentice style period during which the supervised employee learns the practical skills associated with good installation techniques. The trainee is required to do a minimum number of floors, ceilings, ground vapour barrier, cylinder wrap and lagging. The period of time will depend on several factors including the level and range of experience of the employee. This stage cannot be treated retrospectively; in other words, even the most experienced employee must complete all aspects of stage 2. Installations completed prior to the download of this document cannot be included. All work completed must have been audited by the appointed company trainer. The summary of work must be completed and submitted with the practical assessment, post installation audit and the record of work form .

STAGE 4:

Site Safe Training (Building Construction Passport)

Health and Safety training delivered by Sitesafe to ensure everyone on a construction site (both commercial and residential) has a basic understanding of the health and safety hazards they are likely to face. Please contact Sitesafe and book your employee directly. On completion, please forward their Sitesafe ID number to membership@iaonz.co.nz. An IAONZ certified passport will then be posted to the employee.
