The voice of New Zealand’s insulation industry
EECA Warmer Kiwi Homes is funded to 30 June 2027. Beyond that date, there is currently no confirmed continuation pathway. IAONZ is calling for certainty before the election so New Zealand does not risk a funding gap that damages the delivery network, reduces regional capability and makes it harder to reach households that still need warmer, drier and healthier homes.
All insulation types, whether they be fibrous, expanded foam or other technologies can deliver long-term performance when correctly specified, fitted, supported, protected from moisture, and installed to NZS 4246. IAONZ promotes installation quality, training, and evidence-based practice across all types. We discuss fibrous insulation in this article.
The Insulation Association of New Zealand Inc. welcomes the release of BRANZ Study Report SR511, Household Energy End-use Project 2: Indoor temperatures in New Zealand homes. We must continue improving the thermal performance of existing homes. Heating, ventilation, cooling, moisture management and occupant behaviour all matter, but they cannot replace the need for an effective thermal envelope.
