Association Training Program
Our association offers industry specific training in site safety and on the key requirements of NZS 4246, (NZ Standard NZS 4246: 2016 - Energy Efficiency - Installing Insulation in Residential Buildings).
The IAONZ foundation training course is the association’s minimum theory-based installer training benchmark for NZS 4246-aligned residential insulation work. It is intended to provide a baseline understanding of compliant installation principles, safety, and common defect risks. It does not replace product-specific training, site supervision, company procedures, or legal health and safety obligations.
IAONZ Training: Theory of NZS4246:2016
An online classroom-based industry standards training session delivered by an IAONZ accredited trainer.
- The Foundation course for new installers and those involved in the insulation sector.
- The Refresher course for those wanting to remain current with their skills.
The course is reviewed and updated regularly.

BCITO (Train the Trainer)
A workshop for employers, supervisors & trainers.
BCITO feel have a pretty good idea of the sorts of things that will best help trainers achieve good outcomes for their apprentices and their business. This workshop will cover a range of things that trainers typically want to know how to do, such as, how to communicate with an apprentice who does not appear motivated to learn. This is ideal for team leaders and managers of insulation installing crews.
These workshops are run throughout the country - to find the next event near you see the BCITO Calendar. You can register directly with BCITO.
