Updated Insulation Industry Standard NZS 4246:2016 released

IAONZ are pleased to advise the recent release of the revised standard, NZS 4246: 2016 Energy efficiency – Installing bulk thermal insulation in residential buildings. See the notice from Minister Smith’s office regarding this. HERE
IAONZ was actively involved as an industry specific representative member of the review committee that advanced the standard. IAONZ members also provided additional extensive technical support to ensure the Standard is relevant to real-world application and operational use by installing companies. We thank everyone for their involvement. This update is particularly important as the industry starts to build momentum for the increased insulation requirements specific to rental properties. Specifically, changes to the Residential Tenancies Regulations to reflect the revised standard come into force on 1 October 2016.
EECA will also review and update to the WUNZ (Warm Up New Zealand) Q&A Manual to reflect changes resulting from the new standard. EECA will release this as soon as it is available.
