Myth Vs Fact: Overheating in some New Zealand homes is caused by “too much insulation”.

For some reason, people think that insulation creates heat. Not true; insulation is designed to reduce heat flow from hot to cold. Ideal for keeping a house warm in winter, and cool in the summer. Once heat enters your house in summer, there needs to be good methods to remove that heat. Removing insulation is not the answer.
Installing It Right Matters: NZS 4246 and Better-Performing Buildings

Updated Insulation Industry Standard NZS 4246:2016 released

IAONZ welcomes the release of NZS 4246:2016, noting its active role in the review. The updated Standard supports higher rental insulation requirements and aligns with regulatory changes effective 1 October 2016.
